Rubber gasket co extrusion profile

Item No. CER-004

EPDM Pinchweld is a heavy-duty edge sealing profile made from high-grade EPDM rubber with an internal reinforced steel core. It is engineered to deliver dependable sealing for vehicle doors, windows, and hatches, offering outstanding resistance to water, dust, ozone, and heat.Characterized by simple and secure installation, it incorporates a user-friendly push-on U-channel for stable retention, paired with a flexible sponge rubber bulb to ensure consistent and durable sealing performance.

In the world of manufacturing, co-extrusion is essentially the "fusion" technique. Instead of making a part out of one single material, co-extrusion allows you to combine two or more different materials into a single, seamless rubber profile during the extrusion process.

Think of it like a multicolor toothpaste tube: different streams of material are pushed through a single die at the same time, bonding together to create a specialized finished product.

How It Works

The process typically involves multiple extruders (the machines that melt and push the rubber) feeding into a single head.

Extruder A handles the rigid or dense material.

Extruder B handles the soft or sponge-like material.

They meet at the die, which shapes them into the final profile.

Common Combinations

The real "magic" of co-extrusion is that it solves multiple problems at once. Here are the most common pairings:

Dense Rubber + Sponge Rubber: The dense part provides a sturdy grip or attachment point (like on a car door), while the sponge part provides the soft, compressible seal.

Rubber + Metal/Wire Insert: A steel or wire carrier is embedded inside the rubber to help the profile "grip" onto a metal flange without falling off.

Dual Durometer: Combining two rubbers of different hardness levels (e.g., a 70 Shore A base with a 40 Shore A bulb).

Color Striping: Adding a thin strip of colored rubber to a black profile for identification or aesthetic purposes.

Why go through the trouble of a complex setup? It usually comes down to performance and cost:

Multi-Functionality: You get the strength of rigid material and the sealing capability of soft material in one part.

Simplified Assembly: Since the two materials are already bonded, you don't have to glue or tape separate pieces together on the assembly line.

Better Durability: The bond created during the extrusion process (while the materials are hot) is much stronger than using secondary adhesives.

Weight Reduction: Using sponge rubber for the "bulb" sections reduces the overall weight and cost of the profile compared to using solid rubber throughout.

Typical Applications

Automotive: Door seals, trunk gaskets, and window channels.

Construction: Expansion joints and window glazing seals.

Industrial: Cabinet enclosures and HVAC sealing.

Complete Pallet Preparation for rubber extrusions
Complete Pallet Preparation for rubber extrusions

Standardized Pallets: Goods are stacked on heat-treated (ISPM 15) or plastic pallets, optimized for forklift handling. Rigid Corner Protectors: High-impact cardboard corner guards are applied to the full height of the stack. This prevents the straps from cutting into the rubber and maintains the vertical integrity of the pallet.

Standard package for rubber extrusion

Standard Rolls: Goods are typically supplied in 50m or 100m continuous rolls, precision-coiled to maintain the profile’s structural shape.

Price terms

The price is based on FOB, CFR or CIF terms according to Incoterms 2000.

Delivery time

There is no guarantee for the delivery time. The guarantee is only for lead time.

Valid time

The valid time of molding or extrusion profile is 60 days unless there is big changes of raw compound and exchange rate.

Do you have a standard part?

We do not have a standard parts. All of our products are custom made to customer specifications, we may apply for the authorization from customer for the parts same to what you are looking for.

Will I need to invest tooling to produce my product?

If we do not have an existing tooling to meet your requirements, you will have to buy one.

Will you use the tooling for other customers?

No, you will have the 100% rights of the tooling. Please refer to our privacy policy and non disclosure agreement.

How can do I select the raw compound for my application?

With years of experience working with a variety of material, we can help select the material that will best suit your needs while keeping material costs in mind.

Do you use any international standards for the rubber products?

Yes, we use ASTM standards and RAM standards to define the quality of the rubber seal and rubber gaskets.

Can you supply different color material?

Yes, we can produce custom molded rubber and silicone rubber products in a variety of colors.
