Discover our comprehensive range of rubber diaphragms and benefit from uncompromising quality, continuous innovation, and superior efficiency for your most demanding applications.
A rubber diaphragm is essentially a flexible, circular barrier—usually made from high-strength elastomers—that acts as a seal between two chambers. Its primary job is to transmit motion or pressure from one side to the other while preventing liquids or gases from mixing.
Think of it like a drumhead that can move up and down without letting air through.
How It Works
Because rubber is elastic, the diaphragm can "flex" or displace when pressure is applied. This movement can be used to:
Create Suction: By pulling the diaphragm back, you increase volume and lower pressure (the principle behind a diaphragm pump).
Actuate Valves: By applying air pressure to one side, you can push the diaphragm to open or close a mechanical pathway.
Regulate Pressure: It can balance against a spring to keep a steady flow of gas or liquid.
Key Components & Materials
Depending on what it’s being used for, a diaphragm might be a simple sheet of rubber or a complex, "engineered" part:
Materials: Common choices include Nitrile (Buna-N) for oil resistance, EPDM for weather and water, or Viton for high temperatures and chemicals.
Fabric Reinforcement: Often, a layer of fabric (like nylon or polyester) is sandwiched inside the rubber to provide extra strength so it doesn't "balloon" or pop under high pressure.
Design Shapes:
Flat: Simple and inexpensive, but has a shorter stroke (range of motion).
Rolling: Designed with a fold that allows for a much longer, smoother stroke.
Convoluted: Features "ribs" or folds to allow more flexibility without stretching the material too thin.
Common Real-World Uses
Automotive: Found in brake boosters and fuel pumps.
Medical: Used in ventilators and IV pumps where precision and hygiene are critical.
Household: Your home’s water pressure tank and gas meter rely on them to function.
Material
EPDM, NR, NBR, CR, FKM
Hardness
40-80ShA
Fabric
Polyester, nylon, curtain fabric, etc.
The general water pressure
0.4 MPa to 1.6 MPa
Standard: Goods are typically supplied in about 20-25kg/carton.
Standardized Pallets: Goods are stacked on heat-treated (ISPM 15) or plastic pallets, optimized for forklift handling. Rigid Corner Protectors: High-impact cardboard corner guards are applied to the full height of the stack. This prevents the straps from cutting into the rubber and maintains the vertical integrity of the pallet.
Price terms
The price is based on FOB, CFR or CIF terms according to Incoterms 2000.
Delivery time
There is no guarantee for the delivery time. The guarantee is only for lead time.
Valid time
The valid time of molding or extrusion profile is 60 days unless there is big changes of raw compound and exchange rate.
Do you have a standard part?
We do not have a standard parts. All of our products are custom made to customer specifications, we may apply for the authorization from customer for the parts same to what you are looking for.
Will I need to invest tooling to produce my product?
If we do not have an existing tooling to meet your requirements, you will have to buy one.
Will you use the tooling for other customers?
No, you will have the 100% rights of the tooling. Please refer to our privacy policy and non disclosure agreement.
How can do I select the raw compound for my application?
With years of experience working with a variety of material, we can help select the material that will best suit your needs while keeping material costs in mind.
Do you use any international standards for the rubber products?
Yes, we use ASTM standards and RAM standards to define the quality of the rubber seal and rubber gaskets.
Can you supply different color material?
Yes, we can produce custom molded rubber and silicone rubber products in a variety of colors.
