Performance & Installation Standard of Thermoplastic Elastomer Door and Window Sealing Strips

June 02, 2026

Thermoplastic elastomer door and window sealing strips are core components of modern building door and window systems. Installed on door and window frames, sashes, and glass grooves, they perfectly fill the gaps between profiles, hardware and glass. They effectively improve the air tightness, water tightness, sound insulation and energy-saving performance of building windows and doors.

Manufactured from high-quality thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), our sealing strips feature excellent aging resistance, superior flexibility and stable high elasticity. The material is recyclable, eco-friendly and globally recognized as a high-performance green material, widely used in construction, automotive, electrical and industrial fields. The products deliver excellent elasticity, toughness and mechanical strength with low deformation under long-term use.

Our building sealing strips provide outstanding weather resistance, ozone resistance, UV resistance and arc resistance. They can maintain stable elasticity even at an extremely low temperature of -60°C, ensuring long-term service stability in harsh outdoor environments.

Standard installation procedures are essential to maximize sealing performance. Before glass installation, all mortar, wood debris and impurities inside the grooves must be thoroughly cleaned. The glass shall be accurately positioned with uniform gaps on both sides and fixed immediately to avoid offset and collision displacement.

During installation, the sealing strip should not be overstretched. The reserved length should be 20 mm longer than the actual assembly size. The strip must be fully embedded to ensure uniform stress distribution around the glass. At corners, the strips shall be cut diagonally and closely jointed without damage.

For fixed glass sealed with sealant, rubber strips or rubber pads are required to support the glass and reserve sufficient caulking space. The sealant depth shall be no less than 5 mm. Vibration should be avoided before the sealant is fully cured.

Wool pile sealing strips are normally installed around window sashes and sealing bridges to strengthen the tightness between window frames and sashes.

Improper dimensions will directly affect sealing performance. Excessively large top sizes or over-height vertical piles will increase assembly difficulty and window opening and closing resistance. Too small specifications or insufficient pile height may cause the strips to fall off, greatly reducing the overall sealing effect.

Qualified sealing wool pile features flat top surface, smooth vertical piles without bending, and base surface defects controlled within 0.2 mm, meeting international building sealing standards.
