How to select materials for rubber molding parts?
Each rubber material has unique properties and suitable applications. Based on extensive production and testing experience, we have streamlined the most commonly used rubber materials and their optimal industrial applications to facilitate precise selection.
EPDM - Ethylene Propylene Dioxide Rubber
EPDM exhibits excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, and high-temperature resistance, as well as outstanding resistance to compression set. Its stability range is -40°C to 150°C, making it suitable for outdoor seals, automotive exterior parts, water pipe fittings, and HVAC components, especially in humid and oxidizing environments.
NBR - Nitrile Butadiene Rubber
NBR is an affordable oil-resistant rubber with excellent abrasion resistance and mechanical toughness. Its stability range is -30°C to 120°C, and it is widely used in automotive oil line seals, hydraulic equipment gaskets, and general industrial oil-resistant components, particularly suitable for cost-controlled projects.
VMQ - Silicone Rubber
Medical and food-grade silicone rubbers offer excellent biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and extremely high temperature resistance (-60°C to 230°C). It supports multiple sterilization methods and possesses excellent insulation properties, making it ideal for medical devices, food machinery seals, baby products, and precision electronic components in high-cleanliness environments.
FKM/Viton - Fluororubber
Fluororubber (FKM/Viton) is a high-end specialty rubber with excellent high-temperature resistance (up to 250°C), chemical corrosion resistance, and aging resistance. Its ultra-low compression set makes it widely used in extreme conditions such as aerospace, high-temperature seals for automotive engines, and chemical equipment components.
CR - Chloroprene Rubber
Chloroprene rubber (CR) offers good flame retardancy, shock absorption, and chemical stability, providing balanced overall performance. It is commonly used in general industrial shock-absorbing components, waterproof seals, and low-requirement outdoor protective components, achieving an ideal cost-performance ratio.
